Sybil Sha
Sybil Sha is a 13 year old Highest Honor Student at a prestigious, private, preparatory school in central Florida. She has achieved the highest distinction attainable of High Honor Roll for the 2008-2009 school year and maintains the highest grade point average possible of 4.0 for the 2009-2010 school year while being enrolled in the most rigorous Honors classes that are offered. She is a proud recipient of the Award in American Museum of Natural History Young Naturalist Awards on "Lizard Tail Regeneration" and also achieved excellent performance in the American Mathematics Contest resulting in an invitation to participate in the Florida Math League Contest.

Sybil is a highly accomplished and competitive piano player. She participates in the National Federation of Music Clubs events and on February 14, 2010, achieved "Superior Plus" rating which is reserved for the top 1-2% of competitors in each division. In July, 2009, she participated in the National Music Certificate Program in accordance with The Royal Conservatory of Music and obtained an Honours rating. In February of 2009, she obtained a superior rating with the Florida Federation of Music Clubs Festival at the University of Central Florida. Other awards achieved include Summer Semester Piano Recital Award on August 15, 2009, Back to School Piano Recital Award in August, 2007, Music N More Spring Recital Awards in May, 2007 and May, 2009, and Mozart Solo Piano Competition Trophy on April 17, 2004.

In addition to her musical talents, Sybil is also an avid and competitive tennis player. Out of thirty eight students that tried out for the Middle School Tennis Team, Sybil was one of ten that were selected. Sybil now plays first seed on the team and has been a highly valuable player that has brought her team its current success. She is a member of the United States Tennis Association and has achieved numerous awards and trophies for her tournament play. They include: 1st Place at the Fort Gatlin Tennis Tournament in 2009, 2nd Place at the Fort Gatlin Tennis Tournament on July 11, 2009, 1st Place at the Memorial Day Tennis Tournament on May 23, 2009, 1st Place at the Spring Fling Tennis Tournament on March 28, 2009, 1st Place at the Red Bug Park Tennis Tournament in the Consolation Division in 2008, and 1st Place in the Fort Gatlin Tennis Tournament in 2007.

Sybil’s true passion and drive is raising breast cancer awareness. Sybil has volunteered more than 200 hours at a local cancer center working as an assistant to the nurses where she helped obtain vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, weight and retrieved comfort items such as warm blankets, water, and ice chips for cancer patients. She came to know patients on a more intimate level, empathizing with them on a psychological, emotional, and spiritual level. She saw first-hand the emotional difficulty the diagnosis and treatments took on both the patient and close family members. On a deeper, visceral level, she aspires to do that which is within her means, ability and power to affect a change. In ten years, Sybil endeavors to be a young physician specializing in the treatment of breast cancer and doing her part to eradicate this disease.
